To close an open file
Step 1
Login to a Domain Controller
e.g., BDC-wa
Step 2
Select This PC (if necessary)
Step 3
Open up Server Manager > Tools > Computer Management
Step 4
Ping filer for IP Address (open up command line > W + R )
Step 5
Computer management (right click) > Connect to another computer
Step 6
Put in IP address
Step 7
Expand “System tools” > expand “Shared folders” > expand “Open files”
Step 8
Locate the file you want to close. Observe who current has it open. Contact them first to inform them of what you’re about to do.
Step 9
Close the file
